Persistence
Editorial Updated 31 Dec 2006, Persistence
We must keep on keeping on, if we are to finish well! It is nice to start well. But a "not so nice" start can be turned around.
It is nice to finish well. But most folks do not fail in the end game.
It is the middle game where the battle is often lost—between 35-55 years of age. It is there that persistence pays off. I have just listened to Winston Churchill’s speech given in Feb 1941 in which he responds to President Roosevelt (just elected to an unprecedented 3rd term. The speech is filled with indomitable language—Churchilll’s persistence words. This is a great inspirational speech. Churchill concludes with a special appeal, after having said nothing would deter the British empire from opposing Hitler: Give us the tools and we will finish the job.
Well, God will give us the “tools” if we but respond to His processing of our lives. He will shape us toward a focused life—if we but heed his GUIDANCE.
My personal motivation—doesn’t hinge on the tools; I believe God has given those and will still give me what I need. My motivation deals with my inward attitude.
Here is my verse that motivates me toward persistence.
58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady,
always enthusiastic about the Lord’s work, for you know that
nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
1 Co 15:58 NLT
Be persistent, my friend. It will pay in the end.
Blessings,
