Short History of Leadership Theory
by Dr. J. Robert Clinton.
This short booklet (pdf file) studies the five major leadership eras that occurred in the United States from 1841 to the present. It features the five eras, leading theorists and works of each era. It describes the basic leadership paradigms used to shape leadership during the phases, and leadership lessons seen in this historical survey.
These leadership paradigms are seen to shape leadership thinking in each era—including Christian as well as secular. In fact, most Christian leaders are powerfully shaped by the prevailing secular thinking of their time. (73 p.)
