Life-Long Use of Things Learned – One Aim of a Teacher
by Dr. J. Robert Clinton
As a teacher, one of Dr. Clinton's hoped for outcomes of teaching, is that students will continue to use things they have learned in his class long after the class. Over the years, Dr. Clinton has discovered perspectives that shed light about this.
Things the teacher does, while teaching a student, can greatly affect whether or not the student is motivated to continue using what has been initially learned. This paper integrates some of those things Dr. Clinton has discovered about the ongoing use of things learned. He also illustrates actual applications of what he has done in the classroom because of those perspectives.
